WordPress Error establishing a database connection

Discussion in 'Third-party applications' started by ShrineFox, Mar 1, 2019.

  1. Trying to install WordPress using the application installer. I believe I've filled out all the information correctly and that the password I'm using is correct (the rest of my site uses the same database and it works, so...)
I'm met with a page after confirming that says the following:
Then it directs me back to that page to try again.
This is how the information looks in my MS SQL Manager. I'm pretty sure I haven't accidentally left in any whitespace either when entering it. Any idea what the problem could be?

Yes, you're using a MS SQL (Microsoft SQL Server) database. You need to create a MySQL database. They are different. In the Control Panel, it's the icon with the dolphin, two icons to the right of MS SQL Manager.
    ComputerMan and ShrineFox like this.
  3. Oh! Thank you so much, I didn't even see that. Guess I kept misreading MySQL as MS SQL somehow. Much appreciated
