Considering the fact that no one can run a site without SSL these days, why do you prevent people from doing this on your basic plan? Is there a real reason for that? I don't want to be forced into a higher plan just because I need a cert.
When we designed the plans long time ago, IP numbers were getting extremely difficult and expensive to get so we didn't offer ssl support on the basic plan. However, we do recognize that things have and will continue to evolve so a review of the plans/features is in our product pipeline. I can't make any promises or predictions but ssl will be a part of the discussions. As for now, we only support ssl on the Max or higher plans.
