.htaccess in IIS

Discussion in 'General troubleshooting' started by winhoau, Oct 16, 2013.

  1. I run drupal sites in 3 subdirectories on my site. I was of the understanding that .htaccess does not function in iis windows. However to my surprise .htaccess files have been inaccessible in my site folders. Any folders they are in do not allow any access and once created cannot be deleted thereby littering the whole space. Can some Winhost staff let me know how these .htaccess are able to effectively deny all access to files I want to delete and yet are not effective in securing the folders I want to protect. I want to clean up unwanted drupal folders and install new ones.

.htaccess files cannot affect folders / files permissions on IIS hosting. The problem could be caused by some other issues. Please open a support ticket through our support portal at support.Winhost.com and provide us with your ftp log where we can see the error messages.
