I have a question about re-registering a lapsed domain name. I just purchased an account on Winhost after getting tired of my previous provider but still want to use my current domain name. My current web space and domain name registration lapses next week, so I assumed (correctly or incorrectly, I'm not sure) that when the registration ends, it will automatically be picked up by Winhost. I assumed this because when I registered for Winhost it allowed me to "Use an existing domain" and enter my current domain name without any issue. I read other posts where you say that you can't perform registration transfers, but I'm not sure if I need a transfer in this case or just a "regular" registration since my previous registration period will have ended. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Thanks!
You need to transfer the name to us, or it will expire (unless the previous host renews it, which you want to avoid if possible). Here are the steps to transfer a domain name.
