New to Winhost followed along all the help articles and videos installed the IIS 7 manager as described. I am trying to connect by selecting connect to a server and entering my IP address, setting the username to my accountid or cp login id, as it is displayed in the IIS 7 Site Tool icon and entering the same password I used to log in to control panel with. I get an unauthorized error, as shown here: http://screencast.com/t/MTZmMGI3N2M
Also I read this post....http://forum.Winhost.com/showthread.php?t=3764 I do not seem to have telnet on the command line in Windows 7 Firewall is OFF on my PC, the port 8172 is opened both ways on my router I am using Connect to Site not Connect to Server. I am entering my domain name in both the server and site fields in IIS 7 Remote Manager I can successfully ping my IP address from the command line.
just to update I still CAN NOT connect to a site with my IIS 7 Remote Manager. I get the same unauthorized message http://screencast.com/t/Zjc5OTIyNDY I WAS able to install the Telnet client on Windows 7 AND SUCCESSFULLY connect to telnet www.sutilities.com 8172 It's something with the login not being the same as my control panel login or my IIS 7 is not configured correctly, I would guess.
let's start from beginning 1.from IIS manager, click file => Connect to a site 2.server name would be the secondary URL that you can see in control panel example: mysiteUsername.w01.Winhost.com 3.sitename is the domain name. mysite.com 4.click next 5. enter your main FTP login username. example: mysiteUsername 6. enter your password. This password is the same for the FTP, i think. 7.click OK.
