support page broken and on-going email issue needing fixing ASAP please

Discussion in 'General troubleshooting' started by mtm81, Mar 11, 2013.

  1. As per other threads - the support site is not loading so I can't submit a ticket.

However that asside, the m05.internetmailserver.net is again (third time in two weeks) showing signs of being listed on various spam filters - seriously disputing the ability to send out emails.

Current bounce is showing a poor MTA reputation..

Can this be sorted ASAP please as it's causing a lot of problems!

    Many Thanks

  2. I'd like to second @mtm81's post. Some of my messages are also getting rejected due to the "poor MTA reputation". This started happening a few days ago.

  3. I believe that the server Spamming is actually smg02.internetmailserver.net. I'm having the same issue.

Sorry about that guys we were having problems with our Email Gateways getting a bad reputation. As of right now the reputation is currently "Good" and "Neutral". So you shouldn't be having these issue at the moment.

It seems a grip load of people have been getting their email users compromised and spammers use the compromised email accounts to send out spam from our Email servers. In most cases we catch and stop them. Then we notify the users about the compromised accounts we found. But, in this case some spam messages were sent out and it caused our Reputation to go down.

At the moment you should be able to send now without any problems.

  5. Spammers are using new techniques to avoid detection. We, like most hosts, rely on numbers to detect spam activity (one account sending an unusual amount of mail). The spammers are on to this and now tend to send much less mail over a much longer period of time. That is much more difficult to detect.

We do have outgoing spam filters in place that look for suspect or known spammy text, so you may notice that a lot of spam now is more carefully crafted, with long blocks of seemingly legitimate text containing the spam links. So the outgoing filters miss some of those.

The problem is it doesn't take many reports to most of these RBLs before the server "reputation" takes a hit. And we have no way of knowing that we're headed for trouble until they list us.

So it's becoming a lot more difficult, but we're always working on new ways to keep the spammers at bay.

I do think you'll eventually see the day though when hosts like us won't provide email at all and we'll all use email specialist companies. It's the predictable and probably unavoidable end result of all of this.
