SSL for webmail not working?

  1. Hi guys, i know this is an issue going way back at Winhost. I read some other threads i managed to find on here about securing the connection using SSL to log in securely into the SmarterMail client online using
    'https://mail.domain.com'.
However, i have tried with 3 browsers (IE, Chrome and Firefox) and they have always thrown a security error.
I understand that all Winhost users share a mail server (or several) and from what I understood from previous threads there is an issue with installing SSL certificates for each user (which is totally fair enough). I'm just a little confused. If you guys said you can use https://mail.domain.com to secure the login process, surely it shouldn't throw a security warning. Is there an issue that you guys have missed with one of the mail servers or am I doing something wrong?

    Hi Pavel,

Go to the Domains tab. Click on the Manage link next the domain name of your site. Look at the MX record. It should say something like *.internetmailserver.net (e.g. m06.internetmailserver.net). Use this instead of mail.domain.com (i.e. substitute it), and SSL should then work. It's because the domain that is being encrypted is *.internetmailserver.net.

Easy solution really, should have figured that out by myself haha
