Migrating Wordpress site using BackUpBuddy

Discussion in 'General troubleshooting' started by gcfarr1, Feb 16, 2012.

  1. I'm attempting to migrate a Wordpress site from one server to Winhost for the first time though I've done this several times with other servers without issue.

I'm getting an internal server error 500.0 and messages...
    Most likely causes:
IIS received the request; however, an internal error occurred during the processing of the request. The root cause of this error depends on which module handles the request and what was happening in the worker process when this error occurred.
IIS was not able to access the web.config file for the Web site or application. This can occur if the NTFS permissions are set incorrectly.
IIS was not able to process configuration for the Web site or application.
The authenticated user does not have permission to use this DLL.
The request is mapped to a managed handler but the .NET Extensibility Feature is not installed.

    and suggestions of...

    Things you can try:
Ensure that the NTFS permissions for the web.config file are correct and allow access to the Web server's machine account.
Check the event logs to see if any additional information was logged.
Verify the permissions for the DLL.
Install the .NET Extensibility feature if the request is mapped to a managed handler.

I"m new to Winhost and looking for guidance

What's the URL and how can we replicate the error? 500 errors sometimes indicate that there is a configuration problem with web.config file.

  3. I gave up and recreated the site. This has been torture. Almost have it completed but having an issue with a couple of the plugins not working. Tried to deactivate and delete them and then re-install but the re-install fails because it says the directory still exist. Going to take a break and try again in a bit.

hummm sounds like the folder for the plug in might still be in the directory.

Have you tried log into the site via FTP? Then try looking for the directory you are having an issue with at the moment. Then try to delete it that way?

Try connecting to your site via FileZilla. Then read our knowledge base article on how to connect to your site using FileZilla here: Configuring FileZilla to access your web site

Can you also tell me what exact plug you are using? How are you trying to install it? I can try to recreate the error on my end with my account.
