Migrating old site, can't get Winhost to run the ASP scripts

  1. Hi,

(I apologize for the noobishness of starting this thread in advance.)

I have been charged with migrating an old site that was running on ASP (IIS6.0 Win 2003 Server) to my new server at Winhost. I'm having some problems of a very basic nature and I'm hoping for a little direction.

I have all of the source files from the legacy server available to me. I don't have to write any new code, I just need to get the old site running at the new location.

I've (partially) uploaded the old website verbatim to the home directory according to my control panel. But index_new.asp does not show up when I go to http://www.kongbudo.net/index_new.asp, I just get a 404 page. What do I have to do to get the server to start executing my scripts?

I told my boss I could get it done this week, but I'm really lost on this and I haven't been able to find an answer to this basic question on the forums or online (maybe because I don't know which key words to search on).

Could someone please help me or at least direct me to some material that will explain how to get my Winhost server to execute my existing scripts?

I can reply with any necessary information about the scripts or some source.

    Thanks in advance,
    Dentine

404 means it cannot find files. Did you make sure you uploaded everything?

I checked the link you gave and I do not see any error messages. Did you fix the problem?

Thanks Ray. You were right, not all of the files had finished uploading. I had assumed that because the index.aspx files were there, that it should show something, but I didn't realize that the absence of other files deeper down the link chain would cause the front pages to 404 and 500.

    I appreciate the answer.
