microsoft access and frontpage

Discussion in 'Site Programming, Development and Design' started by rshane, Sep 28, 2010.

  1. OK, don't laugh, but the website I am putting together will not be fancy, and I have found Frontpage to be adequate for my needs. Also, I am needing to include a database that my users can enter data into and see results based on what they have entered. My familiarity for doing this is with Microsoft Access. My questions:
    1. Can I use Frontpage to publish to my site hosted on Winhost?
    2. Can I upload my Access database?
    3. Or, do I need to use MySQL and ASP.net?
    4. Or what do you recommend? (I can probably learn to use something new, but would rather not unless it is necessary.)

Yes you can use FrontPage to develop and upload your files to our server you'll just need to make sure you setup FrontPage to connect to our server using FTP. With FrontPage you can connect to a web server by using Remote System, FrontPage Server Extensions, Web Dav, or FTP. We only support FTP.

It is up to you if you want to use Access, you simply need to upload it to our server and make sure the connection string is coded correctly.

You may want to look at these kb articles:
