Membership Database Problem

  1. Please Help:
    Hello, I am a brand new Winhost customer and am stuck on the creation of Membership page.
    I have tried to read all the Winhost help articles and forum posts I could find to learn the solution.
    This is what I have and have done:
    Using MS Visual Web Developer 2008 Express I have created a two page asp.net web site with Member Login on the first page.
    I entered two user (member) profiles through the VS Web Site Administration tool.
    I tested the login page function through VWD2008 using the Ctrl F5 and it worked.
    I updated the web.config file in the web root with the following:
    <connectionStrings>
    <remove name="LocalSqlServer" />
    <add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=DBServerName;Integrated Security=false;Initial Catalog=DBName;User ID=DBLogin;Password=DBPassword" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
    </connectionStrings>

    I ran the command aspnet_regsql.exe interactively to run the script that configures existing databases for ASP.NET membership and SQL Web event provider against the ASPNETDB.mdf file.
    The file is now an SQL Server Database Primary Data File and is no longer accessible through the
    VWD Web Site Administration tool because it is not an SQLEXPRESS type.

    I published the site (www.BRGClub.org) and the databases to my Winhost account,
    tried to access the Member Login and receive this error:

    Server Error in '/' Application.

    What is your exact connection string? Where exactly are you seeing the error message? Are you seeing the error message on your website that you uploaded to our server or is the website still installed on your local computer and you have yet to upload it to our server?

  3. Re: Member Database Problem

    Hello Ray,
    Thank you for responding offering assistance.
    Unfortunately I have been traveling extensively for
    work and have been unable to work on my club website.
    When I am able to return home I will try again to create
    the member login page / databases.
    Thanks again.

    Try to give us as much information as possible. If you do not want to post your connection string on the thread of the forum you can email it to me and I can take a look at it.
