Error deploying web application in Visual Studio 2010

I successfully deployed my web application in Visual Studio 2010. However, I am trying to redeploy it, but I am getting the following error:

Web deployment task failed.

An error occurred when the request was processed on the remote computer. Unable to perform the operation. Please contact your server administrator to check authorization and delegation settings.​

Any idea why this is happening?

same error, trying to publish in VS2010

I'm getting this error today also. I thought it may have something to do with changing my password last night, but since the only search result is somebody else getting this error today, I think it may be a site problem.

I'm on Win7 using VS2010 Ultimate. I tried it with both my old password, and the new one (which I verified working to connect to SQL and the web control panel).

 

Interestingly enough, I changed my password yesterday also, but I was able to deploy using the new password.

 

Sometimes we can get confused between the control panel password and the FTP login and password. Remember they are not the same. But when you are not sure of the password its always best to simply reset it.

 

I sent in a support ticket yesterday regarding this. Apparently there was an issue with the server, but the problem has been resolved. If you were having issues with this earlier, it should be working now. It is for me at least.

 

I'm using VS 2010 Ultimate and occasionally have a similar problem. I close VS and start it up again, this solves the problem.
