com free registration - how to accomplish this in asp.net?

Discussion in 'General troubleshooting' started by frekster, Feb 7, 2011.

  1. All,

I was following this msdn magaizine article trying to use a 32 bit com dll on my asp.net 3.5 website on win host:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-ca/magazine/cc188708.aspx

After discussing this with technical support, they said this was not possible because com free registration requires that the asp.net application be installed on the server. My asp.net application is not installed on the server nor can win host install it on their server due to security concerns, which is understandable.

This brings me to my question. Can anyone offer me a way to work around this dependency on this 32 bit com component? My entire asp.net 3.5 application requires the use of it. How can I get this to work without installing my asp.net web app on the server? Is there any work arounds to this problem?

Thank you all for any suggestions or advice!

    /Justin

This 32 bit component exactly what is it? It this a custom made component built by you or is it purchased from a vendor? What is the name of the vendor and do you have a website for them?
