Hello - whether using CoreFTP, or FileZilla running in Active mode, I cannot delete an .XLS file from my site. I keep getting a 550 error message (550 The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.) I searched the forums and didn't find anything to solve the problem. Thoughts? Thanks.
try to drop your running application first to make sure no file is being used and caused the 'lock' see here http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2005/10/06/426755.aspx If you still can't delete the intended file please open a ticket to support so we can look
Not sure what you mean - are you saying close down the browser being used to upload the file in question? If that's the case - yes, I close down all browsers. I should be more specific: users will be uploading Excel files to my site. They can upload the file as whatever name they wish, such as "greenapples.xls" - doesn't matter. The file will then take on the name "sheet1.xls" for the online app that will be used for users to view the spreadsheet, after it's uploaded. Right now, I'm testing the app, which means I have to upload multiple instances of a spreadsheet. But once the .xls file is uploaded, it takes the "sheet1.xls" name. After that happens, it seems to be hours before I can delete the file...
When this happens try recycling your application pool, disabling any anti-virus/firewall software, and setting your FTP client to use active mode. This usually does the trick.
