SQL SERVER 2016??? No longer available from Microsoft???

Discussion in 'Databases' started by John DeGe, Nov 23, 2018.

  1. The WH features state that SQL-Server-2016 is permitted in a web-app on WH.
However, it appears that this 2016-version is no longer available for download from Microsoft.
I can download from Microsoft SQL-2017.
Are WH saying this 2017-Database will not run on WH?
My current domain/website on WH uses SQL-Server-2012 and the .NET 4.6.1 code uses that also.

We are thinking of updating the .NET Visual-Studio to VS-2017 (and deprecating our use of VS-2012).
We want to update the SQL-SERVER version from 2012 to the newest supported by WinHost.
    Comments? Thanks, John.

At the moment we don't have a large number of request for this new MS SQL database. Also, not exact time has been set of when we'll support it.

You can still upgrade to Visual Studio 2017. In fact we have a knowledge base article on how to deploy a Core application using Visual Studio 2017 https://support.winhost.com/kb/a147...-to-self-contained-in-visual-studio-2017.aspx You can also use a SQL 2016 in our hosting environment. That's the newest version we support.
