I set up my Winhost email account in Mac Entourage and encountered this error message upon sending of email. "CONNECTION TO THE SERVER FAILED OR WAS DROPPED. ERROR NO. 3253" What should be the smtp port number? Can anyone help with the above error message please? Thanks! Using Mac Mail, I also encountered error to connect to mail server. The error message is: "Unable to Receive Mail. There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Check the settings for account or try again. The server error encountered was: The connection to the server “mail.lt9.biz” on port 25 timed out." What could be the problem? Please help. Thanks.
We use the standard smtp port 25 and 587. Have you tried running a telnet test on your email server from your mac and see if ports 25 and 587 are open on your end?
