Trying to create an "Add Connection" in Visual Studio 2010 Server Explorer

    Hi,

    I'm trying to connect to the Winhost database server on Winhost by creating a new connection in Visual Studio 2010 Server Explorer. When I test the connection I receive the error "Login failed".

    I can give you more information but to start I will tell you I am using s09.Winhost.com as the Server Name. Then I am using SQL Authentication and I am using the same database name and password I use when logging into SSMS. I even tried putting tcp:s09.Winhost.com as the server name but receive the same error when testing. Login failed.

    Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Check to see if your firewall/antivirus software may be blocking the connection.

    Make sure port 1433 and/or 14330 are open on your end.
