SSL Setup in IIS for my site

Discussion in 'General troubleshooting' started by jesusj, Apr 10, 2013.

  1. Hi,

I have a domain and hosting with Winhost and I need my site can be accessed using http and https, so I bought a SSL certificate and followed the process to install it.

Now I assume that the certificate is installed in IIS for my site, but I can't access via https.

Is there anything more that I need to do to get it working?

I read some tutorials about setting https and all of them says I need to add a new binding but using the remote access to IIS I can't find this option in the actions pane.

I'm a developer not a sys admin and maybe I'm doing something wrong or I don't have enough knowledge.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Jesus.

    P.S. My site is www.dytics.com

Your DNS isn't hosted with us, and you were provisioned a Unique IP. You need to update your A records to point to that IP.

  3. Do I need this to get SSL working?

I'm completly lost right now. I can change the A records but I don't see how this is going to make SSL work.

  4. It worked, I don't know why but it worked. :)

Thanks, I really appreciate your help.

It worked because you pointed your A records to point to the correct Unique IP. Also the domain name points to our web server where the SSL Certificate is installed. That's why it work :)
