What is the current status of GoDaddy and Comodo as CAs? I see your KB article: http://support.Winhost.com/KB/a491/...te-certificates-browser.aspx?KBSearchID=96877. I notice DASP has the exact same article (strange...). So I'm wondering if it's still accurate. Are these two still on the "not recommended" list? I see they are both listed in the Microsoft Root Certificate Program Members file, that the KB points to. Tom www.CommerceChemistry.com
No we should be able accept GoDaddy and Comodo. Most of the SSL Authorities are issuing out new root certificates. If the SSL produces an error when you install it, simply give us the Intermediate certificate that should have come with these SSL and we should be able to install it on the server.
To clarify that Knowledge Base article a bit, it is mainly warning about potential problems that could result from the naming conventions used by GoDaddy and Comodo. I think at this point if you buy from either of them you are not likely to have a problem, but they have laid the groundwork for issues in the future. I imagine they will be re-keying or reissuing a lot of certificates if/when they duplicate the names.
