SMTP error 5.7.1 when emailing through a Rackspace hosted account

  1. Hi, I was hoping someone could shed some advice. I'm hosting an application here at Winhost and we are trying to email from an email hosted at Rackspace. This was the error:

    Transaction failed. The server response was: 5.7.1 <welcome@mysite.com>: Sender address rejected: Access denied

    And these were the site credentials we use. The Winhost support team suggested I follow up here and see if anyone has any prior experience with this. They suggested it is possible to mail "from" a rackspace server.

    SMTP: mail.mysite.com, also tried smtp.emailsrvr.com
    Login: welcome@mysite.com
    Password: mypassword
    Port: 25

    Have you tried to contact Rackspace about this. If you are trying to send email through their email server there maybe a setting you are not aware of with Rackspace.

    This error usually means the SMTP authentication credential is invalid
