Setting Up My Server

Discussion in 'Pre-sales questions' started by Rokkumon, Feb 20, 2011.

  1. I have purchased the rights to publish a developer's game.

I am looking to purchase the hosting space. As far as I know, the instructions are: Upload files, change local host.dat file to include IP address of host (server host), and it should work.

If it should happen to not, would it be possible to receive assistance in getting people connected to my game server?

If so, I'm planning on purchasing service within 24 hours.

  2. I don't know why you would want to change your host file to connect to a normal web site (that only affects that computer anyway), but then I'm not really sure what you're doing.

You can't connect to a site here via IP. At least not using the default site set up. Typically you would use a domain name, right? Like Winhost.com to connect to your site.

I don't know what kind of game you're talking about, but if it's some browser-based thing you can certainly point people to it using our "alternate URL," though I'm not sure why you would want to.

    What is your goal here?
