Hi! I wanted to find out what your policy is on remote ODBC connections and setting them up? My app will need to connect to a remote oracle database, so I need to know if this is possible before signing up. Thanks! Justin
You will not be able to use an ODBC connection string but you should be able to use a DSN-Less (OLEDB) connection string to connect to your Oracle database that resides outside of our network.
Thank you for the response. I have one more question. When I try and sign up for an account it makes me choose a domain name. I will just be pointing a subdomain to this account for now. It will be something like dev.mydomain.com. I'll be setting this up in my own DNS to point to your server. Is this possible to set up without having a www. domain as your signup form asks for? Thanks! Justin
Yes this is possible. Basically when you first sign up for an account it requires a site to be associated with it. So using any domain or subdomain name will work. Bare in mind we cannot change the domain name once the site is created. If you need a new domain name you simply order a new site and drop the old existing site.
In the order form just ignore the "www" that is in front of the domain textbox. You should be able to type in the subdomain you want to use and get through.
