Redis (NoSQL DB) Install and Run

Discussion in 'Databases' started by Miroslav Popov, Jun 4, 2014.

  1. Lets open a thread about Redis: http://redis.io/.

How it can be installed and run on Winhost?

  2. I don't think it can. Not from within a Winhost account.

We don't support any noSQL databases on the server level, and it looks like that's the only way redis runs on Windows.

  3. Actually, it doesn't matter.

We can use a third party Redis hosting and to access it via some of the C# clients.

  4. Has there been any change in this topic? I would like to be able to run Redis from a WinHost server.

  5. Greg, I'm afraid there isn't much demand for Redis. I did a search of our helpdesk and it's only been requested by two other people in the past. Add that to you and Miroslav here in the forum, and that makes four, which isn't enough to alter the configuration of all of the severs here. I'm sure you understand. (And it would have to be all of the servers, for network consistency's sake.)

That isn't to say we'll never support a NoSQL solution of some kind. It's a subject that does come up from time to time when we're discussing services to add.

We do support one NoSQL solution which does not require server reconfiguration. RavenDB.
