Part of my ASP.NET website (which I am considering hosting with you guys) has a simple .NET (C#-compiled) console application which is responsible for some database monitoring and email notification. The app is strictly .NET, and I'm wondering if you support .exe console apps as part of your basic offering.

    thanks.

  2. No, afraid not. Too many potential security issues.

There's definitely a fine balance with security and usability. Also keep in mind the issue of 'fairness'. If we allow one compiled application to be installed on the server than we'll have to allow other applications to also be installed. From there we open ourselves to a lot more security holes. The bottom line for circumstances like this where you may need to install an application on the server, a dedicated server is the way to go. On a shared hosting server we simply need to impose a more tighter security to protect the other accounts. It's really from our point of view the fairest way to do it.
