I have inherited a project management role for a startup company. In 2002 and 2003 the company contracted for the development of a MS SQL database and MS Access programs to populate, update and retrieve data. The payroll application was never implemented, but I was told it is "near" ready for deployment. Although I have an IT background I am not a MS SQL database administrator, so I need to hire expertise to get the MS SQL database and MS Access programs loaded onto a Winhost server so we can explore its capabilities. The material provided to me include a MS SQL database and the MS Access programs. I have an MS Excel file of the database elements and the MS Access programs, and a backup of the database. I would like to explore hiring someone to help me load the database onto Winhost hosted server so the applications can be tested. Is anyone interested in providing the service, and at what cost? There would be follow-on programming tasks if you are interested.
Access is really not a backend server so you will actually upload the MS Access database through FTP. To upload the SQL database to our SQL 2008 Server try also looking at this link. http://support.Winhost.com/KB/a771/how-do-i-generate-or-restore-a-backup-of-my-database.aspx Now, don't forget that the connection string will have to be modified to reflect the changes.
