Invoking an application only specifying the Application incorrectly resolves to root default.htm

Hello - I have an MVC 4 application with a default.htm file in the application's directory. In Winhost an application starting point was created pointing to the folder that contains the application. However, when trying to invoke the application by domain/application, the runtime is incorrectly looking to the domain root for the applications default.htm, instead of using application/default.htm. The MVC applications routing table has not be altered. Any thoughts as to why this is occurring would be appreciated.
