i'm finalizing the optimization of my website, and i've considered to enable gzip compression. how can this be done in IIS manager?
If you're talking about compressing output from the web server, I would ask why you want to bother? About a million years ago when we were all on dial up modems it almost, kind of made sense to do that, but these days the benefits are so negligible that I think you're just adding unnecessary complication and overhead.
Compression is supported on our shared hosting environment. You will need to enable it yourself using IIS 7 Manager. Try looking at this kb article for instructions on how to setup IIS 7 Manager to connect to our server. http://support.Winhost.com/KB/a628/using-the-microsoft-iis-70-manager.aspx Once connected go to the module "Compression".
