I installed a VS2010 Trial and have since downloaded a copy from the company MSDN account. I uninstalled everything that said VS2010 in the Programs area and am now attempting to reinstall the MSDN copy. It does not work. The install ends up through all kinds of errors and ends with an unsuccessful install message. What do I have to do to completely clean off the old versio, or may the new one overwrite everything? Thanks.
What kind of error messages are you getting? We'll need you to provide us a bit more details so that we can help you further.
Thanks. I'll see if I can find a log. I've done it twice and don't want to have to to go through that whole thing again. I used the MS web installer to install VS2010 web express so I might be ok for now. That install went smoothly. There are a couple of things missing (windows applications, web services, etc) but I think I can live without those for now.
I believe VS 2010 may also install a database component. You may want to make sure that is also uninstalled on your computer.
Thanks. I didn't install that part - used custom install and made sure I didn't use that. I installed full SQL Server 2008 separately.
