Hi all, Slightly confused here over what I think is a simple issue. I have my domain name (www.<name>.co.uk) with 1&1, who forward requests to that url to the website over at www.angelfire.com/xx/<name>. Now, to point www.<name>.co.uk to my Winhost-hosted website, do I update the forwarding destination from angelfire.com to my Winhost secondary url http://<name>.wN.Winhost.com , or do I use another url? Is the secondary url going to impact performance if I use it?
I think you are looking to setup the domain pointer. Try looking at this kb article. http://support.Winhost.com/KB/a696/details-on-domain-pointer-service.aspx
Using the secondary URL here will not have any effect on performance. But redirecting through angelfire probably will impact performance. But there is no reason to do that. The best thing for you to do would be to bypass all the forwarding and change the domain's name servers to point directly to us. You would do that through 1&1. Unfortunately we do not have any specific instructions for their system. But you should be able to contact 1&1 and tell them you want to change the name servers for your domain to: ns1.Winhost.com ns2.Winhost.com ns3.Winhost.com
