Error establishing a database connection

Discussion in 'DNS/Domain names' started by wnat, Sep 1, 2014.

  1. Hi
I bought a basic package from Winhost and transferred a web site from another host to Winhost.
I have done necessary setting such as domain name pointing.
It was runing yesterday perfectly and it is not working today, 2 Sep 2014.
When I visit to www.rolashades.com.mm , it was error message stating that "Error establishing a database connection"
    What happen and why?
    Help me to resolve it.
I alos send this problem ot Winhost support by email, so far no reply.

    Regards

  2. I am not sure what kind of 24/7 service Winhost is giving to customer. So far I did not receive reply nor resolve problem. Very frustrating.

  3. I just checked and we've sent several replies to your tickets. We're trying to help.

I can see right now though:

    1) Your domain doesn't point to us...
    domain: rolashades.com.mm
    nameserver: ns1.mtalk.net.mm
    nameserver: ns2.mtalk.net.mm
    2) You don't have a database set up on the Winhost account.

  4. I regret to choose Winhost for the web hosting because their staff don't know how to check properly.
Before I reise this thread, I have checked everything to make sure that I have done my part such as pointing my domain name to Winhost server.
I said in my thread, web site is running on first day, and it showed error on second day.
I don't know how they check that my domain name is still not pointing.
    My simple checking showed that my domain name is pointing to Winhost server. See the attached.;

Furthermore, I received another mail reply from Winhost staff telling me different story. See their reply below.

Did you create a SQL database for account 'rolashades.com.mm'?

I checked the account and I neither see a SQL or MySQL database.

Is your site suppose to connect to a SQL or MySQL database?

Please let me know if you have any further questions,

I said I lived in other side of US and I waited until 1am (local time and 1pm US time) no reply was sent. Now another two days gone.
    It is not productive.
    I regret to choose Winhost.

And that was the correct answer. I don't see that you've created a database on your account either, so I have to make assumptions that you're either trying to:

    A) Connect to a flat file database.
    B) Connect to a database outside Winhost which means it's not something we control. The other database server could be down.

  6. Which it would do if the old account is canceled and the domain isn't pointed to the new host.

    The .mm registrar whois says:

    WHOIS Results for rolashades.com.mm

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    WHOIS Server
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

The following data is provided for information purposes only.

    Registrar: MTG
    Registrant: ROLASHADES MYANMAR CO.,LTD

    Domain Name: ROLASHADES.COM.MM
    Creation Date: 08-Aug-2013 07:10:24
    Expiration Date: 30-Jun-2015 00:00:00
    Domain Status: OK

    Name Servers:
    NS1.MTALK.NET.MM
    NS2.MTALK.NET.MM

That comes from the registrar's whois database. The authority for .mm domains. If you "pointed" the domain to one of our IP addresses using a DNS tool somewhere else, we can't troubleshoot that. Unless you have a specific reason not to, I would suggest that you point the name servers to us.

    ns1.Winhost.com
    ns2.Winhost.com
    ns3.Winhost.com

If you do that (at the registrar), we can help with resolution problems.
