    Thanks

  2. They're all the same, 256-bit.

So, may I ask, what is the difference between RapidSSL and GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium? Thanks.

    Thanks for the links.

It appears that RapidSSL is owned by GeoTrust?

If they're technically the same, I guess a hacker has equal chance of compromising either brand cert.

Unless I'm mistaken, it seems that the warranty difference is just a marketing thing and therefore a reason to charge more for the same technical protection.

  6. Well, a warranty is a warranty. If you can demonstrate that you've been compromised, they'll pay you $X. There is always cost associated with a warranty. Remember the last time you bought some electronic device worth more than a couple hundred dollars and they tried to sell you "extended protection"?

The reason that 99.99% of security certificates top out at 256 bit is because that is more than adequate protection for 99.99% of sites. Unless your site hosts sensitive financial or government information (and you wouldn't host that on a shared server anyway, right?), the likelihood is that you fall in that 99.99%.
