Connections for https and ftp, incoming and outgoing

Discussion in 'Pre-sales questions' started by JFWeir, Sep 8, 2009.

  1. I'm considering web hosting for the first time and don't have a complete grasp of what I need. So bear with me, thanks.

My customers expect to use this web page securely, and so use https. I believe I need SSL and thus Winhost Max. Is this correct?

Also the web pages make use of ftp and https Web Services. I.e. not redirection but some file work within the application to get and put files, and to ship on FedEx web services. Are these outbound connections OK?

    Thanks.

That is correct. You will need ot choose the Winhost Max plan so that you can use an SSL certificate on your account. Bear in mind that you will still need to purchase the SSL certificate which is a different cost from our hosting. You should look at Verisign, Thawte, GeoTrust, and even NetworkSolutions.

Our servers can fully support web services, and we do not block or filter any outbound calls.
