How to use Microsoft Access Database Hosting?

Discussion in 'Databases' started by Jay Shaw, Jul 30, 2019.

  1. Hello,

I have a few small Access Databases that I'd like to be able to use with one user at a time from multiple locations?

I see that WinHost offers Microsoft Access Database Hosting, but I don't understand how to use it.

I split my database into a front-end.accdb and a back-end.accdb and uploaded the back-end to WinHost using FTP, but I can't figure out how to connect my front-end remotely to that location???

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this? It would be really helpful for these small applications.

    Thanks, Jason

It appears it's not possible to connect to a MS Access database via http.

Also, you might want to consider up sizing to a MS SQL database.

Some of our customers that use an Access database will use it with their web site and connect to the database within the same file system. This is why we say we support Microsoft Access Database Hosting. Because we do support it but the site will need to connect to the database. You won't be able to use outside client to connect to the Access database on your file system on our server.

  3. Thanks for the clarification.
