I'm looking at Winhost for an application but need to be able to connect to the SQL server from outside the web host. Is this supported? thanks, john
Thank you, that's excellant. The other thing I need is the ability to connect to the SMTP mail server from outside for this account. For emails originating from the web site I don't want to have the web server send emails because when they fail there is no ability to retry.. Instead I write emails to a database and have a program do the mailing on a timed basis. I know that shared hosting doesn't allow for a server process to run so I will initially run that on an outside system. Is that supported?
Yes. We don't block outbound connections on any port. You can connect to a SMTP server outside of Winhost.
