A few questions

I'm thinking of buying hosting from you. Though I'm a developer, I don't have any experience in this area, so I have a few questions.

    1. I've had a domain registered (with private whois) with another company. This will run for approx another 6 months.

What will happen if I choose you as a host? Do I transfer it? If so, how? What happens to the private whois?

    2. How will I be able to connect to your services? Can I use LinqPad to connect to MsSQL and run queries? Can I use MySql Workbench to connect to MySql?

    3. This is more of a general question from a newbie. Let's say I want to use web fonts and decided to serve them myself instead of letting Google do it via their web fonts service. IIS needs a little tweaking before everything works OK. This is done by adding two new MIME types in IIS. Would I be able to do this sort of thing myself?

I've narrowed the choice down to Winhost for time being. If all is well, I'll buy the hosting.

    Thanks.

    1. you can keep the domain with the domain registrar and use us for hosting. If you do this, you just have to update the domain name servers with our DNS information to point the domain to us. If you want to move the domain management to us, you can do that as well - but its not a requirement. The benefit would be one place to manage and pay for hosting and domain. Check out: http://support.Winhost.com/KB/a955/transferring-domain-registration-to-Winhost.aspx

    2. To upload files we support FTP. We support remote sql connections so you can manage SQL with any SQL client - many use SQL Management Studio for example. For MySQL, you can use MySQL Workbench - check out http://support.Winhost.com/KB/a832/connect-to-mysql-with-mysql-workbench.aspx

    3. You should be able to control MIME types with IIS Manager. Check out - http://support.Winhost.com/KB/a711/iis-7-modules-that-are-delegated-customer-access-iis-manager.aspx

We also have a 30 day money back guarantee. You can test us out.
