Installation of SilverStripe to Root?

Discussion in 'Third-party applications' started by jeff, Jun 4, 2013.

  1. I accepted the defaults when installing SilverStripe from the control panel. That ended up in my website having URLs with the string "SilverStripe" in them, like http://mysite.com/SilverStripe/home. I don't want that. So I installed SilverStripe from the control panel again, this time to the root folder, hoping for URLs like http://mysite.com/home. But when I navigate to install.php this time, I get all kinds of errors and warnings, even though, according to the control panel, it installed, and the files and folders are all there.

Is it not possible to install SilverStripe to the root, so that my URLs can be http://mysite.com/home? And if it is not possible, is it possible, after installing to a folder, to get URLs like http://mysite.com/home, without the folder name being included in the URLs?

    Thanks.

You'll need to use the URL Rewrite module to perform the redirect:

I'm afraid I'm not sure why it's not working from the root. I've played around with it, but I wasn't able to get it working. I've done some research, and there are problems with the temp directory. I haven't been able to find a work around yet.
